Your Guide to All Things Seal Point Ragdoll!
Welcome to our seal point ragdoll cat guide. We feel well equipped to talk about seal ragdolls as we have our very own seal point ragdoll cat, Mr. Fudge, who will feature throughout in this guide!
According to Ragdoll Fanciers Worldwide, a seal point ragdoll cat comes in the following varieties:
- Seal colorpoint ragdolls
- Seal point mitted ragdolls
- Seal point bi color ragdolls
Each of these type of ragdoll cat have gorgeous creamy, brown long-haired fur and blue eyes. In fact, the majority of ragdoll cats have blue eyes, with the exception of black ragdoll cats and seal sepia ragdolls.
It’s important to remember that a seal point ragdoll cat’s long fur does mean you’ll need to brush them more than your average moggy. Ragdoll cats are prone to shedding, particularly around spring and fall when their coats are transitioning.
Seal ragdoll cats are also considered large cats which again has added considerations, such as finding the best litter box for ragdoll cats.
Seal point ragdoll cats can also be easily confused with chocolate point ragdoll cats, because they look so similar! In fact, I wasn’t really sure if Mr. Fudge was a seal point ragdoll or a chocolate point ragdoll before I started my blog.
So now you know a little bit more about this type of ragdoll cat let’s explore each of the three types of seal point ragdoll cat below!
Seal Colorpoint Ragdoll Cat
Our gorgeous boy, Mr. Fudge is a seal colorpoint ragdoll, also known simply as a seal point ragdoll.
His dark patches are very dark, particularly when compared to a chocolate point ragdoll cat’s markings, which are typically lighter brown.
Seal Point Mitted Ragdoll Cat
Seal point mitted ragdoll cats look similar to seal point ragdolls with one clear difference: they have adorable mitted patches (hence the name!).
Their mitted patches are typically on their feet, noses and chins. A seal point mitted ragdoll’s markings can also be compared to a chocolate point mitted ragdoll but again their markings are also darker brown.
Seal Point Bi Color Ragdoll Cat
You might have guessed it, but seal point bi color ragdoll cats have the same dark brown markings and blue eyes that the other types of seal point ragdoll cats we’ve explored have.
The difference with seal point bi color ragdolls is that they have very distinctive brown and white markings on their faces. It’s almost like they’re wearing a mask!
A seal point bi color ragdoll cat might also have mitted markings as well, like the seal point mitted ragdoll cats we’ve just explored above.
The easiest way to remember the different types of seal point ragdoll cats is that the “seal” part of their name refers to the dark brown color of their fur. The “point, “mitted” and “bi color” parts of their name refer to the type of markings they have.
